Working on a permanent 4 on 4 off days contract, you will be responsible for making sure customer orders are processed efficiently. Based in a large distribution warehouse, my client is looking for Stock Control Clerks due to business growth and expansion. This is an exciting time to join a growing company. Who is our client? Our client is the leading time-critical distributor - they provide the essential link between food manufacturers and Blue Chip supermarkets. They work across chilled, deep chill, ambient and frozen, picking around 3.3 million cases per week and delivering around 130,000 pallets of food & drink products into UK grocery retailers each week. They do this through skilled professional staff, who enjoy great training, internal promotion and an inclusive culture.

What is this site like? This is a port based distribution hub with a portfolio of impressive blue chip supermarket clients. It's a site that is incredibly fast paced and still relatively new. There are plans for further expansion and volumes will be increasing.

Reporting to the Stock Team Leader, the Stock Control Clerk duties include:

  • Processing daily orders from customers via sales systems, fax, phones and e-mail
  • Allocating these orders and inputting them into the WMS
  • Maintaining contact with customers regarding the status of orders - this is a varied base of 20 different customers
  • Chasing through order discrepancies and updating customers on the stock available
  • Systematically inputting orders into the WMS from the daily load plans
  • Liaising with warehouse pickers and transport to ensure orders are picked and dispatched on time
  • Updating the WMS in the case of modified/ cancelled order as requested by the customer
  • Constantly analyzing ways in which the operation can be improved, providing maximum productivity and ultimately providing savings to the customer

Requirements for the Stock Control Clerk:

  • Experience within a logistics environment i.e. a warehouse/ transport office
  • Willingness to work a 4 on 4 off day shift (6am to 6pm)
  • Familiarity with different systems is a strong advantage, ideally Red Prairie, SAP or JDA Dispatcher
  • The ability to stay calm whilst balancing multiple customers demands
  • Previous experience in a food picking operation is advantageous
  • Methodical and accurate working style
  • Good administration and organisational skills
  • Willingness to cover different hours occasionally due to colleague sickness/ holiday
